Following Intuition Leads to Award
It all happened in such a surprising way! Initially, I had been very excited to attend the Denver INATS conference, so imagine my disappointment when our distributor, New Leaf, informed me I wouldn’t be included in their show. They had already chosen all the authors they would send to represent them and do signings.
In spite of all the signs pointing to me not going to the conference, I checked in with Kuan Yin for guidance. The reading stated very clearly that I should go to the conference anyway! With blind faith, I heeded this advice, checked into a hotel in Denver and showed up at the opening breakfast of the conference with a few copies of the book.
Unsure of exactly what to do, I followed my intuition to a large, empty table that just felt right. Several new age store owners from different parts of the country joined me at my table, and I gave them copies of the book to peruse as we sat and waited for breakfast to be served. Much to my delight, they loved it!
A woman took the empty seat next to me, and I noticed that she happened to be wearing a Kuan Yin motif jacket! “This has got to be a good omen,” I thought to myself and handed her a copy of the book. As she started looking through it, everyone else at the table began celebrating their favorite features of the book. They were most impressed by the oracle board, the color pictures and the lovely poetry. These women I had just met had quickly become the book’s champions!
Another surprise came then as the lady in the Kuan Yin jacket leaned over, rummaged through her purse and handed me a slip of paper that read 2010 INATS BEST OF SHOW! She explained that she was Editor at Large of New Retailer Magazine, Jean Haller, and she greatly admired Kuan Yin!
In the end, I was so pleased I listened to the guidance and followed my intuition even though everything else seemed to be telling me I couldn’t go. It was worth taking the risk, and I am so grateful for the recognition the book received.
